About Susan Jackson

A licensed financial planner, Susan has been assisting individuals with their financial planning requirements since the late ‘80s and is a regular speaker, facilitator of money education programs, magazine contributor and radio and TV guest.

The Women’s Financial Network

Susan established the Women’s Financial Network (WFN) in 1995 with the aim of creating an organisation where women could access financial information, professional advice and related services in a friendly holistic environment.

While most WFN clients are female, the style and nature of the practice has also attracted an increasing number of male clients. The practice operates on a fee-for-service basis, and has no ties to any particular investment products, services or financial institution, ensuring that clients receive unbiased advice that is always in their best interests.

Coaching clients to success

Susan believes understanding finances is like learning a new language; you learn the basics and build from there. Her style of advice is that of a coach – someone who is there to teach, encourage and empower clients. Susan’s ability to make the difficult appear simple is one of the trademarks to her success. Her clients range from those getting started with their money to clients requiring sophisticated investment strategies and advice. Whatever the need or situation her approach is always the same – how can we help you best?

Sharing her knowledge

Susan is also the author of the Women’s Guide to Buying Property, The Investment Club Start Up Kit and Why Saving Is Like Dieting and Budgets Don’t Work.

Accolades

In 2005/2006 in conjunction with the State Government and the Victorian Council for the Ageing, Susan developed and facilitated a pilot program aimed at increasing women’s financial literacy around retirement issues. The success of the program resulted in the State Government allocating $1m towards financial literacy programs for women. The Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) honoured Susan's efforts in October 2007 by awarding her the Victorian state Value of Advice Award in the category of Community Contribution for her work in designing, developing and facilitating the project.

Not surprisingly, Susan has twice (1999/2003) been nominated for the Telstra Businesswomen Awards and was a finalist in the 2003 and 2005 Telstra Small Business Awards. Her innovative approach and unique business model is well regarded within the financial services industry and she is a regular spokesperson on industry issues.
